The new course equips you to become a versatile practitioner in a wide range of media and professions by offering you a choice of specialisms in design and interaction, advertising, illustration or moving image. You can also study related subjects including photography, printmaking, letterpress and typography.

 

BA Graphic Design students in AIT will leave with a broad and valuable understanding of graphic design practice in its many forms. Skills acquired enable graduates to become versatile practitioners in many exciting and diverse professions.

As a graduate of this ordinary degree you are eligible to apply to join the add-on Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Design in Digital Media (Level 8) program. Graduates of this programme of exceptional standard have been accepted for entry onto Master’s programmes at other colleges without the requirement of completing an honours degree.

Employers are always on the look-out for creative, highly motivated individuals who are good all-round designers. They require individuals who can come up with exciting creative ideas and present them well both visually and articulately – good visual and verbal presentation skills are a necessity in the design industry. Attendance, organisation, time management, adherence to deadlines and timekeeping are important life skills you can develop on our courses, and take into the industry with you.

Employment opportunities exist in design studios, advertising agencies, general printers, freelance design work, photographer/photographer’s assistant, digital media studios, newspapers, publishing, the music industry, film and television.
